Christmas!!

Christmas is just round the corner and this is my first time spending Christmas in Australia considering that I have been here for nearly 3 years now.

There is festive atmosphere everywhere I go in Melbourne. The decorations put up are really beautiful but I still think that the decorations in Malaysia's shopping center is way more extravagant...hehe...

here some pics... so enjoy

This is window display on Myers... This year's theme is "How Santa Really Work?" Showing above is the production department...

this is the storage department...the santa is so cute!!

The letters department where all the letters from the children are read

and of course...the transport department...which is very important!!!hehe....

The graffitti wall... Written on it is all the little kid's Christmas wishes...

on Federation Square is the Advent Calendar... every night @9pm...there will be a little performance to reveal things that represent Christmas...

Apart from Melbourne, the decorations in Sydney is pretty unique with
a Christmas tree being made out of chairs and the humongous tree in QVB that I only manage to get only a small part the tree.

it looks like a pile of old chairs to me...but I heard it's pretty when the lights are turn on at night...

women

Well...
I have disappeared long enough and I apologise for the lack of update.
If anyone is still visiting this long abandon blog, I have a troubled mind that needs to be cleared.

here is the problem...

It's nearly half a year since my boyfriend move back to sydney, meaning he is currently living with his parents and I have always thought that I get along with his mom. That I never really need to worry about her not liking me or something on that line.

But after this trip to sydney, something happen and it made me think otherwise. From what I gather, there may be more than one occasion that she complain about me to George.

To be honest, I am surprise. Because she seem to be courteous to me. Saying that she doesn't need my help when I offer. That goes to when I even insisted that I help her, she still says no.

Now she turns around and say that she doesn't like people that sits around and do nothing!!

I have to admit that I have given up offering her my help because everytime i did she made me look stupid so i stopped. Maybe I shouldn't have stop.

It seems like I can never assume what she is thinking.

It led me to think that women are such a complicated animal. It is never a simple yes or no , it is always tied with some kind of term and condition.
No wonder we ourselves never seem to understand fully what we want.

From this incident it makes me think that women are cunning and manipulative so that they always get their way. Well at this point there may be female reader would want to object my views strongly.
But I must say sometimes I would think of ways to get what I want. Does this make me manipulative and cunning?

Annie's visit to melbourne.

Annie visited me last month and we had a ball...
it was fun bringing her around Melbourne.
Showing her around the place that i have been living for nearly 2 years now.

She arrive early on a sunday morning.
Her first experience of Melbourne city is the tram....
haha...she got off the wrong stop.
we went around that afternoon.

Annie and the bronze man of Bourke Swanston intersection.

we had dinner at Ginza, a teppanyaki restaurant near my place.
plus my sis works there too....hehe

my cute little bro...lol

and of course we took a picture with the waitress too...

we went to the Melbourne aquarium the next day

there wasn't as much fish in Melbourne's aquarium but I think it's presentation on the whole is much better than Sydney's.

Wicked: The Musical
All year round Melbourne is host all kinds of event...
Last year Phantom of the opera was here, but I didn't get chance to see it.
So this time I make sure i didn't miss it.
and I pull Annie along too..hehe

Night view of Collin St.

After dinner, we head straight to the theater...

It was pack with people.
Unfortunately we are not allow to take any photos in the theatre.
But who say that will stop us?
hehe....here's a few unofficial photos

you must be wondering what is this musical about.
It tells the story of the stories of the witches of Oz before Dorothy arrive in the land of Oz.
And I would say after watching the whole musical I can't help but amazed by the effort put into the costume, the props, the music and most of all the story itself.
It was so touching in the end that I cried for the 'Wicked' Witch of the West.

all in all it was worth it.

after the musical I show Annie how Melbourne look like at night.

BBQ in mid july

ok I know it's nearly mid August right now.
but I have been planning to post up the pics for the BBQ for a long time.
just never really had the time to do it...hehe
It's been a crazy month so far.

So, what have i been up to?
BBQ at Vinci's place.
we started quite early that day, and mind you it was a chilly morning too...

it took us nearly an hour just to get the fire started cos no one in our group ever started a fire before.
I for one is lucky enough not to do all this when I go BBQ...hehe...

after an hour fumbling around with the charcoal and the starter
we finally get the BBQ started.

here the proof that I am actually part of the fire starting team... ^.^v

...another member of the team

let's just say 3 of us is really proud that we finally get the fire started.

and ever since then I never really left the BBQ pit cos it was the warmest place.
but it has it's price though, I smell like a BBQ chicken after the whole thing was over.

We were so hungry that before we finish cooking all of our food half of it is nearly gone.
haha....thanks to Kathy she was feeding each of us while we are BBQ-ing.
really test out her skill in feeding a patient.

lol...vinci must be really hungry...

...and she get her share.

Max and Grace really working hard....

meanwhile, Kathy is still busy feeding everyone.
It was a fun day out with my uni mates....
we actually had a crazy karaoke session after the BBQ....
it wasn't until 10 pm that I reach home on that day.
haha... even now I still have a smile on my face when i think back.
It will be awhile before we can have a gathering again.

Hence, the start of our sem 2 this year.

Bored...

I am bored to the bones....
it's been 2 weeks since George move to Sydney...
how time pass so slowly in Melbourne without him...
It seems like suddenly I have so much more time in the world, fill with nothing to do.

then...
24 hours used to be equals to short/not enough/fast/exciting....
time usually flies by as weeks....
because when u realize...a week has already pass
before I know it a month has pass

now...
24 hours equals to unbearable/bored/empty/too long...slow
just like when you are staring at the clock waiting for the minute hand to reach an hour.
60 turns.
I thought that I probably have used up 3 hours out of 24...
but in reality it is only 10 minutes since i last check ....

Is it too late to really appreciate times that we spent together and things that we did?
And thinking back now...all the little quarrels and fights seems to be such a waste.
I thought we have all the time in the world to spend together...but now we are in 2 different place.

If only i can fast forward time till we meet again...
if only...
a foolish wish...but will always hope that it comes true.

Photos....Photos...Photos

Busy...busy...busy
Have been really busy for the past 2 months.
from placements to gathering with friends, friends visiting Melbourne from Singapore, from sydney, 22nd birthday for me, numerous farewell dinners, parties and drinks for George, housewarming party of another friend and the least enjoyable of them all is assignments...

after lots of good food, good company, plenty of drinks, laughters and tears
A huge pile of photos is an inevitable effect..
of course my body suffers as well. but let's not talk abt that till later....

Let's start with the final farewell party for George...
George's friend, Andrew is so kind to host one for him at his place....

On Anzac weekend, Friends from Sydney came down and visited us.
we took them around...
Had plenty of good food and wine.
First Night:
Libertine, North Melbourne.
French restaurant.

venison tartare

Wild hare-3 different kind of preparation

Fresh water scampie-grilled to perfection and lined with truffle butter.

Wild bird for two...forgot what is the name of the bird hehe...

Braised Wagyu beef....
It was a nice dinner in a nice little restaurant.
We had the whole upper floor to ourself so we were able to make a huge amount of noise and not disturb other table. They even lit up the fireplace for us....romantic.
After 2 bottles of wine...
The night ended with a trip to the Crown casino....
won around $150 without even forking out a single dollar...
cos it's George's money I am playing with....hehe...for your information
I did give back half to him while I keep another half....
Was super tired after casino...only get to sleep at 3am that night.

The next day:
Bright and early around 9 am we head off to the Yarra Valley.
Grumpy George(due to lack of sleep and no breakfast) drove....as well as one of his friends
2 cars in total.... in no time we are on the roads to our destination.

Our stop at Balgownie Estate for lunch.....

Cheese at the De Bortoli winery....
Tasted blue cheese there....can't stand the saltiness of it.

The winery dogs of the De Bortoli...
they are so friendly and cute...

Having fun talking to them hehe...
George: Emma, they don't like you. Stop talking to them.

The Next stop
Chandon.....
I can officially announce that this winery is definitely the most beautiful one out of them all....
The trees were displaying different colours of autumn.
along the roads leading to the main gate and the surrounding as well...
I can fully understand why when they say people held their wedding here..
and I secretly wished the same as well....hehe...
The place is magnificent!!!!

See what I mean?

Chandon Cuvet Riche..exact bottle that George bought for Valentine's.

we head back towards the city around 3pm...
whilst the others head back to their hotel to rest before dinner...
we went to a housewarming party...
his place is huge...with an amazing view of the city.
I can just imagine what it will be like at night..
what a pity I didn't took any photos...oh well..

and of course at night we head out for dinner...
in the restaurant i talk about from the last post....
Vue De Monde

Kiama, NSW...
Remember the small little place that I visited before?
I finally got the photos...
So here they are...

At the beach...enjoying the weather

At the blowhole...

The boys chasing the birthday boy...
Our present for him: Throw him into the sea...lol

counting poker chips....I won!!!
Oh and I got the winnings when they came down to Melbourne to visit us...hehe.
